Prof. Peter A. Andreasen Visits FJIRSM

Prof. Peter A. Andreasen from Aarhus University, Denmark, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on April 26th, 2012. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. Andreasen delivered a seminar report entitled " Proteases and cancer " and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.

Prof. Andreasen’s main research interest focuses on proteases and cancer, he made remarkable achievements in the study of tumors and the plasminogen system. With his important participation and cordial help, Danish-Chinese Joint Research Centre for Proteases and Cancer was established by the support of the Danish National Research Foundation and the National Natural Science Foundation of China on January 1st, 2009. Prof. Andreasen’s research achievements include the cloning and expression of the plasminogen inhibitor (PAI-1) and the characterization of its regulation and inhibition mechanism. He proved that the urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) and PAI-1 are strong markers for a poor prognosis, and PAI-1 is a regulator of cell migration. So far Prof. Andreasen has published 161 research papers, which have been cited for about 12,500 times with the Hershey index of 49.
