Dr. CHEN Xiaodong from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on May 15th, 2013. While staying at FJIRSM, Dr. CHEN delivered a seminar report entitled "Programmable architected materials for energy conversion " and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.
Dr. CHEN Xiaodong is a Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellow and Nanyang Assistant Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). He received his B.S. degree (Honors) in Chemistry from Fuzhou University (China) in 1999, M.S. degree (Honors) in Physical Chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002, and Ph.D. degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Biochemistry from University of Muenster (Germany) in 2006. After his postdoctoral fellow working at Northwestern University (USA), he started his independent research career at Nanyang Technological University since 2009. His research interests include integrated nano-bio interface and bio-inspired materials for energy conversion. So far, He has published over 90 scientific articles, including in Nature Nanotech, Nature Chemistry, JACS, Angew Chem, and Adv Mater, and has given more than 50 invited talks/seminars. Due to his outstanding performance and innovative research work, he has been awarded more than ten prestigious awards and fellowships, including the precious Singapore National Research Foundation Fellowship, the Tan Chin Tuan Exchange Fellowship, and the best PhD Dissertation award at the University of Muenster.
