Prof. Gérard Aka from Chimie ParisTech Institute, France, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials Chemistry and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on May 17th, 2013. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. Gérard Aka delivered a seminar report entitled "blue laser by frequency conversion of the Nd 4F3/2 → 4I9/2 laser transition: a Review on Nd-doped crystalline hosts and non linear crystals", and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.
Prof. Gérard Aka obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. from Paris 6 University, France in 1985 and 1988. He has been deputy director of Chimie ParisTech since 2006. His scientific interest focuses on solid state reaction of optical materials based oxides, Czochralski and flux growth of solid state laser and non linear optical materials, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, thermal conductivity properties, absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy, and Non linear and laser characterization of optical materials. So far he has had 2 patents, 110 publications in ISI referenced international journals, 166 communications (of which, 17 invited international lectures) with the H index of 23.
