Prof. Kazu Suenaga from the National Institute of Industrial Advanced Science and Technology (AIST), Japan, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter(FJIRSM) at the invitation of Key Laboratory of Design and Assembly of Functional Nanostructures on November 4th, 2016. During his stay at FJIRSM, Prof. Suenaga gave a report entitled “Developments of new-generation TEM for atomic scale analysis of novel nano-materials”, introducing his recent research results, especially the interesting findings in structure, edge and defects in low-dimentional materials using new-generation TEM. He has also developed several cases of one-dimensional self-assembly materials in carbon nanotube.

Kazu Suenaga is a prime senior researcher at the National Institute of Industrial Advanced Science and Technology (AIST).  He received his BS degree and PhD degree in Materials Science at the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1989 and 1994, respectively. He worked at Centre des Materiaux, Ecole Nationale Superier de Mines, Paris (France) as a postdoc. from 1994 to 1997, and at Solid State Physics Laboratory, University of Paris-Sud, (France) as a postdoc. from 1997 to 1998. He worked at Japan Science and Technology Corporation as a researcher from 1998 to 2001. He joined AIST in 2001. Dr. Kazu Suenaga has co-authored 200 refereed papers (more than 11,258 citations) with H-index of 53.
