Third National Conference on Polyoxometalate Chemistry Held in Fuzhou |

The Third National Conference on Polyoxometalate Chemistry, which was sponsored by the Chinese Chemical Society and the National Natural Science Foundation of China and organized by the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry and Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), was held successfully at the Hot Spring Hotel in Fuzhou city during the period of October 25 to 28, 2009. A total of more than 130 scholars from 42 institutions of higher learning all over the country participated in the symposium, including 52 professors, 9 associate professors, 3 academicians of CAS and 2 overseas representatives.
On October 26, Prof. Xintao Wu from Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. 4 plenary reports, 27 theme reports, 10 invited reports were done and 21 posters were shown up at the conference. Moreover, extensive scholastic intercourse was carried out in the research fields of multi-borate chemistry, acid-based functional materials, polyoxometalate medicinal chemistry and polyoxometalate theoretical chemistry, and many newest scientific achievements in China were highlighted about polyoxometalate chemistry in recent years. Meanwhile, a scholarship awarding ceremony by Prof. Jiaxi Lu Science Foundation was held during the conference.
On October 27, 2009, Prof. Enbo Wang from Northeast Normal University made the closing remark. All the participants reached an agreement that they learned a lot during the conference. Undoubtedly, the conference got a great success. Furthermore, an important decision was made after earnest discussion by part of the backbone scholars present at the conference that the Fourth Conference on Polyoxometalate Chemistry would be held at Inner Mongolian Minority University in the year of 2011.
