Prof. WAN Lijun from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS), visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on November 18th, 2011. During his stay, Prof. WAN delivered a seminar report entitled “Researches on the physical basis and interface chemistry of energy devices” and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.

Now Prof. WAN Lijun is a doctoral supervisor, research professor and director of the ICCAS, Beijing. He is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and member of the Developing World Academy of Sciences, director of the Molecular Science Center of CAS, and director of the State Laboratory of Molecular Science in Beijing. For quite a long time, Prof. WAN has been mainly engaged in researches on scanning tunnel microscopy, electrochemistry and interface science. He carried out researches on electrochemical reactions, molecular assembly and adjustment by combining experiments and instrument innovation with theoretical studies. Meanwhile, Prof. WAN has been trying to explore the possibilities of applying electrochemistry and nano-materials to the fields of energy and environmental protection. So far Prof. WAN has published more than 260 research papers on some famous scientific journals such as Acc. Chem. Res.，PNAS， Angew. Chem.，JACS, and his monograph “Researches on electrochemistry and scanning tunnel microscopy and relevant applications” was published by the Science Press. He has been invited to work as one of the members or advisors of the Editorial Boards of some important scientific periodicals including Acc. Chem. Res., JACS, Adv. Mater., Chem. Mater., ChemComm., PCCP and Science China. Because of his outstanding achievements in doing researches, Prof. WAN has ever won many academic awards including the Chemistry Award of the Third World Academy of Sciences, the Second Award of the National Natural Science, the First Award of Science and Technology in Beijing, the First Award of Science and Technology by China Association for Instrumental Analysis, and the CCS-BASF Youth Intelligence Innovation Award.
