Prof. XIA Younan from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on May 8th, 2013. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. XIA delivered a seminar report entitled "Putting Chemistry to Work for Nano and Biomedical Research " and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.

Prof. XIA Younan is the Brock Family Chair and Georgia Rearch Alliance(GRA) Eminent Scholar in Nanomedicine in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University, with joint appointments in School of Chemistry & Biochemistry and School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. He is an Associate Editor of Nano Letters. His research interests include development of new methodologies for controlling the synthesis of nanomaterials and exploration of their applications in biomedical and energy research. He has co-authored more than 500 publications in peer-reviewed journals with a current h-index of 128. He was ranked a Top 10 Chemist and Materials Scientist based on the number of citation per paper.
