Prof. Suong Van Hoa Visits FJIRSM

Prof. Suong Van Hoa from Concordia University, Canada, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on November 6, 2013. During his stay, Prof. Hoa delivered a seminar report entitled “Utilization of Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) for the Development of Unique Thermoplastic Composite Structures”, and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.

Dr. Suong Van Hoa is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Concordia University. He has been working on composites materials and structures since 1979.  He has worked on many aspects of composites, from analysis, design, to manufacturing and development of new materials and structures made of composites. Dr. Hoa was the Founder of Concordia Center for Composites (CONCOM). He has been Director of CONCOM since 1993. He has been the president of Canadian Association for Composite Structures and Materials (CACSMA) since 1999.  He is the Editor-in-Chief of Science and Engineering of Composite Materials.
Dr. Hoa was given the title of Concordia University Research Fellow in 2006. He was appointed Concordia University Research Chair in Materials and Composites since 2001. He has been Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Industrial Chair in Automated Composites Manufacturing since 2012. Dr. Hoa is Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME), Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada.
