Prof. PENG Shie-Ming Visits FJIRSM

Prof. PENG Shie-Ming from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry and delivered a seminar report entitled “Molecular Metal Wires From Homonuclear Metal String Complexes to Heteronuclear Metal String Complexes” on October 31st, 2017. Detailed discussion was carried out with the research staff of FJIRSM.

Prof. PENG is now a professor of NTU, Taiwan. He got his B.S. from NTU, Taiwan in 1970 and PhD from the University of Chicago, USA in 1975. Then he worked in Northwestern University, USA for 1 year as a postdoctor before he became a faculty of NTU. His research involves the following fields: structure and bonding of transition metal complexes; metal-metal bonds; molecular metal wires; molecular electronics. He was honored to be the “Member of Academia Sinica (Academician)” in 1998 and Member of TWAS (The Third World Academy of Science) in 2004.
