Prof. Mitsuhiko Shionoya from Tokyo University of Science, Japan, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) and delivered a seminar report entitled “Bio-inspired Molecular Design and Functionalization of Supramolecular Architectures”on December 28, 2024. Prof. Mitsuhiko Shionoya received his Ph.D in pharmacy from the University of Tokyo in 1986. From 1999 to In 2024, he was appointed as a professor at the Department of Chemistry, the University of Tokyo, Japan. From 2024 to present, he was appointed as a professor at Tokyo University of Science and an honorary professor at the University of Tokyo. Prof. Mitsuhiko Shionoya’s research interest is focusing on bio-inspired precision synthesis and functional creation of supramolecular metal complexes, including: (1) Metal array: using bioinspired artificial molecules, synthetic molecules, and single atoms as templates; (2)Nano space: molecular recognition and reactions in organic and coordination capsules and cages; (3)Molecular motion: engaged rotation and switching by supramolecular gears; (4)Coordination asymmetry: chiral-at-metal complexes and asymmetric reactions; (5)Element-centered metal ion clusters: design and synthesis, optical bioimaging, catalysis.
