During his stay, Prof. ZHANG Xumu delivered a seminar report entitled “Asymmetric catalysis and relevant industrial applications” and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM. Prof. ZHANG Xumu is now a tenured professor of organic chemistry at the State University of New Jersey, USA. He became the first scholar from the Chinese mainland who succeeded in winning the Cope Scholar Award by the American Chemical Society for he creatively put forward the concept of “Chiral Toolbox”. So far Prof. ZHANG has published over 300 high-quality research papers and got more than 30 items of patents in USA and all over the world. Meanwhile, Prof. ZHANG is the creator and CTO of Chiral Quest Inc., USA and he is also a member of the International Green Chemistry Committee. Prof. ZHANG was honored one of the guest professors at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He works as a doctoral supervisor and one of the “Changjiang Scholar” professors at Wuhan University. At present Prof. ZHANG is the leader of overseas cooperative group on homogeneous catalysis with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the sponsor of chiral research plan by the National Natural Science Foundation(NNSF).
