Prof. Susan L. Bellis from the University of Alabama at Birmingham(UAB), USA, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on September 14th, 2012. During her stay, Prof. Bellis delivered a seminar report entitled “Use of polyglutamate domains to couple osteoregenerative molecules to bone graft materials”, and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff of FJIRSM.
Dr. Susan L. Bellis is now a professor of the Department of Cells, Development and Integrative Biology, UAB, director of the UAB Biomaterials and Cellular and Molecular Analysis Center, and deputy director of Howard-Hughes MD-PHD Program. She acts as a project judge in the NIH, NIST, NSF and many other authoritative research institutions in USA. In the past 20 years, Susan L. Bellis took on numerous research projects and published many scientific papers. Her present research interest focuses on the functional mechanisms of cell migration and growth of receptor glycosylation, and the repair of biomimetic electrostatic matrix bone tissue.
