Prof. Gong-Ru Lin and Prof. Jr-Hau He from National Taiwan University, Prof. Hao –Chung Kuo from National Chiao Tung University, and Prof. Chao-Kuei Lee from National Sun Yat-sen University visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials Chemistry and Physics on February 11th, 2014. During their stay, the four scholars delivered reports with the topics of “Nano graphite mode-locked laser and nano silicon waveguide device,” “Recent Progress of efficiency droop improvement for high efficiency GaN-based light-emitting diodes,” “InGaN multiple quantum well devices employing nanotechnology for photon management,” and “Polarization independent THz photonics,” respectively. After the reports, they had discussion and shared their personal experience with the research staff at FJIRSM.
Dr. Gong-Ru Lin is a full professor with Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronics, National Taiwan University in Taiwan. His research interests include physics of mode-locked fiber lasers and injection-locked semiconductor laser diodes/amplifiers, physics and photonics silicon and carbon nanostructure, optical communication devices and networks. He has been elected as the Fellow of SPIE since 2008, the Fellow of IET since 2009, and the Fellow of IOP since 2010. Since 2012. He has been invited as the OSA Traveling Lecturer and the SPIE Visiting Lecturer.
Dr. Jr-Hau He is the associate professor with Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronics, National Taiwan University in Taiwan. He has garnered over 1600 citations for a body of work 100 peer reviewed journal articles with H factor: 23 over his career and had over 200 presentations in international conferences. His breakthrough researches have been highlighted by almost 30 scientific magazines such as Nature, SPIE newsroom, Chemical & Engineering News, and Nano Today.
Dr. Hao –Chung Kuo is the Director TD EPI and Professor NCTU at TSMC SSL, Professor, SSL lab at National Chiao Tung University. His current research interests include semiconductor lasers, vertical cavity surface emitting lasers, blue and uv lasers, quantum confined optoelectronic structures, optoelectronic materials, diode-pumped lasers, and semiconductor laser applications.
Dr. Chao-Kuei Lee is now the associate professor with the laboratory of Femtosecond & Quantum Modulation with the Department of Photonics, National Sun Yat-sen University. His research interests focus on ultrafast photonics, including generating and characterizing ultrafast photonic signals with pulse shaping technique.
