Dr. Heather Montgomery from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), UK, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on April 10th, 2014. While staying at FJIRSM, Dr. Heather Montgomery delivered a seminar report entitled “RSC Publishing and China: Editor’s Advice on Writing Papers”, and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff at FJIRSM.
Dr. Montgomery completed her MSci degree in chemistry at Queen’s University, Belfast and remained there for her PhD studies on rhenium and ruthenium complexes as sensors.
She joined the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2010 and has experience handling and making decisions on manuscripts submitted to high impact journals such as Dalton Transactions, Catalysis Science & Technology, Energy & Environmental Science, Nanoscale and PCCP.
In her role as Deputy Editor, Dr. Montgomery has been involved in developing journals to increase their impact, for example the current Impact Factor of Energy & Environmental Science is 11.65 and the next (announced around June 2014) is anticipated to be over 15.
Most recently Dr. Montgomery has taken on the role of Deputy Editor of Faraday Discussions overseeing the expansion of the journal, including the first discussion meeting in China which will take place in October 2014, on the topic of Next Generation Materials for Energy Chemistry.
Dr. Montgomery is part of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Editorial team involved with the flagship journals Chemical Science (IF = 8.3), ChemComm (IF = 6.4) and Chemical Society Reviews (IF = 24.9).
