Prof. Zhe Chuan Feng from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry on May 16th, 2014. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. Feng delivered a seminar report entitled “Multidisciplinary Studies on Advanced Semiconductors, Oxides and Nano Structures”, and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff at FJIRSM.
Prof. Zhe Chuan Feng, received the BS (1962-68) and M.S. (1978-81) from Peking University-Department of Physics, engaged in semiconductor growth, process, devices fabrication, test, semiconductor lasers and waveguide optics, college teachings (at Guangdong Institute of Technology etc.) till 1982 in China. Since late 1982, he has moved to USA. He studied and got the Ph. D in University of Pittsburgh, 1987, on Condensed Matter Physics. He had worked at Emory University (1988-92), National University of Singapore (92-94), Georgia Tech (95), EMCORE Corporation (95-97), Institute of Materials Research & Engineering, Singapore (98-2001), Axcel Photonics (2001-02) and Georgia Tech (2002-03), in all places with fruitful results and achievements.
Since August 2003, Prof. Feng has joined National Taiwan University as a professor at Graduate Institute of Photonics & Optoelectronics and Department of Electrical Engineering, currently focusing on materials research and MOCVD growth of LED, III-Nitrides, SiC, ZnO and other semiconductors/oxides.
Prof. Feng has edited/produced 9- specialized review books on compound semiconductors and microstructures, porous Si, SiC and III-Nitrides, ZnO, devices and Nano-engineering, and published >570 scientific papers with >220 selected/recorded by Science Citation Index (SCI) and cited >2540 times. He has been symposium organizer and invited speaker in different international conferences and universities, a reviewer of Physics Review Letters, Physics Review B and Applied Physics Letters as well as several other international journals. He has served as the Guest editors for four special issues at journals of Thin Solid Films and Surface & Coatings Technology. He has been visiting/Guest professors at Sichuan University, Nanjing Tech University, South China Normal University, Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Nankai University and Tianjin Normal University. He is currently a member of International Organizing Committee of Asian-Pacific Conferences on Chemical Vapor Deposition, International Organizing Committee of International conference for white LEDs and solid state lightings, and Board of Directors, Taiwan Association for Coating and Thin Film Technology (TACT). He has been awarded as a SPIE Fellow (2013).
