While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. Svilen Bobev delivered a lecture entitled “Novel Zintl phases of As, Sb and Bi with the d-metals”, and carried out detailed discussion with the researchers at FJIRSM.

Prof. Svilen Bobev got his Ph.D from the University of Notre Dame in 2002, then he did postdoctoral research in Los Alamos National Laboratory. He became an assistant professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Delaware in 2004, and he was promoted to associate professor in 2010 and to full professor in 2015. He received many honors and awards, including Francis Alison Young Scholars Award of University of Delaware, Exxon Mobil Faculty Fellowship of American Chemical Society, Margaret C. Etter Early Career Award of American Crystallographic Association, and National Science Foundation CAREER Award from Division of Materials Research. His research interests are related to the syntheses and structural characterizations of new solid-state materials, structure-property relationships in intermetallic compounds, thermoelectrics, magnetism, superconductivity and phase transitions. So far, he has published more than 100 research papers in important journals including J. Am. Chem. Soc., J. Mater. Chem., and Chem. Mater.
