Prof. Michael Hamblin from the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, USA, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter(FJIRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences during the period of July 14th to 17th, 2016. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. Hamblin delivered a seminar report entitled “Antimicrobial photodynamic inactivation at the nanoscale”, and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff at FJIRSM. Prof. Michael Hamblin is a prolific and world-famous investigator in the fields, publishing about 300 peer-reviewed articles and many book chapters. He is an associate editor of journals including BMC Microbiology, Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy, Photochemistry and Photobiology, Discovery Biology and Medicine, PLoS ONE, Journal of Nanotechnology and Nanomedicin, etc. He worked initially in targeted photodynamic therapy (PDT) and prepared and studied conjugates between photosensitizers and antibodies or targeted proteins and polymers of varying charges.
