Prof. LIU Guokui from Argonne National Laboratory, USA visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) at the invitation of CAS Key Laboratory of Design and Assembly of Functional Nanostructures on November 11th, 2016. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. LIU delivered a seminar report entitled “On the dynamics of up-conversion luminescence - advanced studies back to basics”, and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff at FJIRSM. Prof. LIU Guokui is now a physicist and Principal Investigator of Chemistry Division of Argonne National Laboratory. He received his B.S in Physics from Wuhan University in 1977 and his Ph.D in Physics from Montana State University in 1988. He moved to Argonne National Laboratory in 1988 and was promoted to Assistant Physicist and Physicist in 1991 and 1996, respectively. His research interests include experimental and theoretical studies of electronic properties of lanthanides and actinides in condensed phases with an emphasis in modeling ion-ligand and electron-phonon interactions.
