Prof. Masaaki Abe Visits FJIRSM

Prof. Masaaki Abe from the University of Hyogo, Japan, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) on May 22nd, 2017. During his stay at FJIRSM, Prof. Abe delivered a speech entitled "A Bottom-Up Coordination Approach to Electronically-Active Supramolecular Metallocluster Assemblies ", and carried out detailed discussion with the research staff at FJIRSM.

Prof. Abe obtained his MSc and PhD in chemistry at Tohoku University, Japan, in 1990 and 1993, respectively. He worked as an assistant professor at Institute for Molecular Science, Japan, in 1993. During the period of 1995-1996, he was a visiting researcher at the Johns Hopkins University, USA. He had ever worked as an assistant professor at the Hokkaido University from 1996 to 2005. After that, he was employed as an associate Professor at the Kyushu University from 2005 to 2015. Since 2015, he was a full professor at the University of Hyogo, Japan. He has got several research awards, including “BCSJ Award” from Chemical Society of Japan (2005 and 2009), “Young Investigator Award” from Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (2004), and “Young Investigator Award” from Hokkaido Branch of the Chemical Society of Japan (1999). His research interests include coordination chemistry for metal complex-based molecular assemblies, basic and applied chemistry of mixed-valence complexes, interfacial coordination chemistry, and coordination chemistry of porphyrin isomers.
