Prof. ZHANG Jianwei from the University of Hamburg, Germany, visited Xiamen Institute of Rare-earth Materials (XMIREM), Haixi Institutes, Chinese Academy of Sciences on May 24th, 2017. During his stay at XMIREM, Prof. ZHANG Jianwei gave a speech entitled “The deep integration of Artificial Intelligence, Robot and Industry 4.0”. Prof. ZHANG Jianwei introduced cognitive perception and planning of intelligent automatic production system, multisensory information process and fusion, robotics, and research and development for human machine interaction. After the report, a detailed discussion with the research staff at XMIREM was conducted.

Prof. ZHANG Jianwei is the Professor and Director of TAMS Institute of the University of Hamburg, member of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg, Germany. He joined the Recruitment Program of Global Experts by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. He received his PhD (1994) at the Institute of Real-Time Process Techniques and Robotics, Department of Computer Science, University of Karlsruhe, Germany. His research interests are service robotics, sensor fusion, service robotics and multimodal machine learning, cognitive computing of Industry4.0, etc. In these areas, he has published over 300 journal and conference papers, and possessed more than 40 patents. Prof. ZHANG Jianwei also received numerous awards, including the IEEE ROMAN 2001 Award, Best Vision Paper Finalist ICRA 2001 and the IEEE AIM Best Paper Award 2008. He was the General Chairs of IEEE MFI 2012, IROS 2015 and HCR 2016.
