Prof. YU Chengzhong and Prof. ZOU Jin from the University of Queensland(UQ), Australia visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter(FJIRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences on Oct.11th, 2017. During their stay at FJIRSM, the speeches entitled " Rationally designed nanomaterial shold great promise as next-generation drug delivery systems "and " Understanding the functional nanostructures using advanced electron microscopy " were delivered by Prof. YU and Prof. ZOU, respectively. The detailed discussion was carried out with the research staff at FJIRSM.

Prof. YU is a chemist and materials scientist in functional nanostructured composites and their applications. Since 2000, he has published over 250 peer-reviewed journal articles, which have been cited over 15,000 times and resulted in an H-index of 61. Since 2010, he has attracted over 9 M A$ grants from the Australian Research Council (ARC), the Cancer Council of Queensland, Diabetes Australia, Queensland Government and industry partners. He has developed broad industrial collaborations to extend the applications of functional materials in a real world. He has received several awards including the Le Févre Memorial Prize from the Australian Academy of Science, the ARC Future Fellowship, and the Second prize of the National Science Award of China (3/5).

Prof. ZOU is Chair in Nanoscience at the University of Queensland, Australia. He got his M.S. from the University of Science and Technology, Beijing in 1985 and PhD from the University of Sydney in 1993. Through his postgraduate studies, Prof. ZOU was trained as a transmission electron microscopist. After his PhD, he worked in the Australian Key Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis at the University of Sydney for 10 years with several Australian fellowships, including an Australian Postdoctoral fellowship and a Queen Elizabeth II fellowship. Prof. ZOU moved to UQ to take up a teaching-and-research position from July 2003. So far, Prof. ZOU published over 590 SCI articles with most of them published in leading international journals, which have attracted over 15,000 citations and led to an H-index of 60.
