Prof. Armido Studer from Münster University, Germany, was invited by the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry to give a speech entitled “Controlled Radical Polymerization and Novel Developments in On-surface Chemistry” on October 16, 2018. Active discussion was conducted with the research staff at FJIRSM. Prof. Armido Studer was born in 1967 and is a Swiss citizen. He is currently a tenured professor (W3) and director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry at Münster University, Germany. Prof. Studer's academic expertise is organic free chemical reactions, and he has made important contributions to the revival of free radical chemistry. Prof. Studer pioneered the application of free radical single-electron oxidation system to small-molecule catalysis, and made a series of work in the reaction of oxacarbene-catalyzed oxidative construction of carbon-carbon and carbon-heterobonds, which is a nitrogen heterocyclic carbene small molecule. So far Prof. Studer is a world-renowned organic chemist and has published 309 papers including Science (2), Nature Chemistry (1), J. Am. Chem. Soc. (15), Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (62), Acc Chem. Res. (2), Chem. Soc. Rev. (4), etc. His H factor is 64, the total number of citations is 10506.
