Prof. Sebastian Sprick from University of Liverpool, UK, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences on May 30th, 2019. During his stay, Prof. Sprick delivered a lecture entitled “Hydrogen production from water using organic photocatalysts: Lessons learnt so far”. His research interest is mainly on the application of conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs), unbranched conjugated polymers, and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) as photocatalysts for hydrogen production from water. His talk raised the broad attention of the researchers and students at FJIRSM. 

At present, Dr. Sebastian Sprick is Theme Leader under Prof. Andy Cooper FRS, in Material Innovation Factory, University of Liverpool, UK. He received his PhD in Material chemistry, Organic Material Innovation Centre, University of Manchester, UK. He has long-term working experience in polymer chemistry, conjugated polymer, porous conjugated polymer, photocatalysis and other applications of polymer. To date, he already achieved 25 peer-reviewed publications, including high-impact journals such as Nat. Chem., JACS, Angew. Chem., Nat. Commun..
