Prof. Paras N. Prasad from State University of New York, USA, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) on June 28th, 2019. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. Paras N. Prasad delivered a lecture entitled “Multifunctional Hybrid Materials and Nanostructures for Photonics, Photovoltaics, Biophotonics and Nanomedicine”, and carried out detailed discussion with the researchers and students at FJIRSM.  

PARAS N. PRASAD, is SUNY Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Medicine. In 2005, Scientific American named him among the top 50 science and technology leaders in the world. He has published more than 800 scientific papers, along with four field-defining monographs in Nonlinear Optics, Biophotonics, Nanophotonics, and Nanomedicine; eight edited books; and numerous patents. He has received the Peter Debye Award, Morley Medal and the Schoellkopf Medal from the American Chemical Society. He is on the Thompson Reuters “Highly Cited Researchers” list for 2014 and 2016. Beyond his outstanding scholastic and research achievements, his work has had substantial technological and societal impact. His technologies have produced nine spin-off companies, one of which, a publicly traded company, Nanobiotix, is now in advanced clinical trial for cancer therapy.
