Prof. JIANG Donglin from National University of Singapore, visited Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM) on July 2nd, 2019. While staying at FJIRSM, Prof. JIANG delivered a lecture entitled “The Chemistry of Covalent Organic Frameworks”, and carried out detailed discussion with the researchers and students at FJIRSM. Prof. JIANG Donglin has been widely recognized as a distinguished scientist and a prominent leader in the field of 2D polymers and covalent organic frameworks (COFs). Since 2005, Prof. JIANG has been devoted to the design, synthesis, and functional exploration of 2D polymers and COFs. Especially he has been a leading figure in establishing the basis of the field. He has explored the design principles of tetragonal, trigonal, Kagome and anisotropic COFs, the synthetic reactions including azine, phenazine, squaranine and C=C linkages, and the materials and their structure-originated functions. Prof. JIANG has developed the first examples, including the semiconducting COFs, light-emitting COFs, photoconductive COFs, energy-storage COFs, asymmetric catalytic COFs, photocatalytic COFs, ion-conducting COFs and spin-functional COFs, thus greatly deepening and expanding the field.
