18th International Conference on Dynamical Processes in Excited States of Solids (DPC’13) will be organized by Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter on August 4-9, 2013, at Fuzhou city located in the east of Fujian province and west of Taiwan Strait.

DPC conference started in Athens, Georgia, USA in 1978. Afterwards, the conference was held alternately in North America, Europe and Asia. It was held every two years before 2007, and changed to every three years since then. The previous two conferences were held in Segovia (Spain) and Argonne (USA), respectively, in 2007 and 2010.

DPC is a cross-disciplinary meeting for scientists interested in theoretical and experimental aspects of the dynamics of excited states in condensed matter in physics, chemistry, life sciences and material sciences. Basic as well as applied science aspects are covered. As in previous editions DPC’13 will be of limited size (~ 350 participants) in order to create an adequate atmosphere for discussion and knowledge transfer. The conference will include invited lectures, tutorial lectures, contributed presentations and posters. All of them will be plenary and will cover the following general topics:

(1) Dynamics of highly excited states of solids;

(2) Excited states in clusters;

(3) Spectroscopy of nanoscale and single nano objects;

(4) Excited state dynamics of macromolecules and biomolecules;

(5) Energy transfer and exciton dynamics;

(6) Electron-phonon interaction and phonon dynamics;

(7) Coherent, nonlinear and high resolution spectroscopy;

(8) Ultrafast phenomena;

(9) Excited state dynamics under extreme conditions;

(10) Upconversion materials and dynamics;

(11) Excited states studies using synchrotron radiation and free electron lasers.

The Fuzhou conference will follow the DPC tradition to promote academic interactions, while the participants will also have an opportunity to enjoy the rich and elegant local culture in foods and arts.
