Prof. Wei Xie received his B.E. and M.E. degrees from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China, in 2007 and 2010, respectively, all in electrical engineering. In 2014 he got the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Bundeswehr University Munich, Germany. 

From 2014 to 2016, he worked as senior R&D engineer of electric vehicle drive system and sub-project leader of electric motor drive system at Hitachi Europe, and participated in Hitachi's global core strategic project. 

Currently, he is with the research faculty of Haixi Institutes, Chinese Academy of Science. His research topics include high efficiency motor design and its control system, and the main applied fields are new energy electric vehicles, industrial servo drives, robot arm, high precision motor system and so on. In the field of electrical engineering, Prof. Wei Xie has formed an independent and complete scientific research system. He published a personal English monograph, published more than 20 innovative academic papers in IEEE and other top SCI journals, and obtained 3 patents. Prof. Wei Xie once was the senior R&D engineer of electric vehicle drive system and project leader of electric motor drive system at Hitachi Europe, and participated in Hitachi's global core strategic project. He published a personal English monograph, published more than 20 innovative academic papers in IEEE and other top SCI journals, and obtained 3 patents. Since January 2017, Prof. Wei Xie has returned to China to set up the "efficient motor design and advanced manufacturing" team and laboratory, as the project leader and researcher, and deputy director of the National Local Joint Engineering Research Center. His research is focused on novel motor system and its advanced control strategy, and the main applied fields are new energy electric vehicles, industrial servo drives, robot arm, high precision motor system and so on. In the field of electrical engineering, Prof. Wei Xie has formed an independent and complete scientific research system.  

The research group has been cooperating with the electric team of German universities, American universities and Hitachi European headquarters to solve the international front edge problem of multiphase motor system and research and development of international advanced industrial products. At present, the group members have obtained 23 intellectual property rights and published more than 30 papers, including 8 in section I and 9 in section II published by the top authoritative journals in the motor design and drive system industry. Moreover, they have the world's first new high-efficiency motors, and some of the preliminary research results have been put into mass production.
