Prof. Wen-xiong Lin is currently Associate Director of Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM, CAS), Director of National Optoelectronic Crystal Material Engineering Research Center, and Director of Laser Technology Integration and Application Research Center of Fujian province. He is also member of the first invited experts of Chinese Additive Manufacturing Industry Alliance (the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China), member of the expert group in materials of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the guiding expert in the Key Project of Optoelectronics Microelectronics integrated chips, the chief expert of 3D Printing Technology Industry Alliance of Fujian Province, the New Century Talents Project of China and the 3rd outstanding scientific and technological talents of Fujian Province.
He received the B. S. degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1988, Master and Ph. D degrees from FJIRSM, CAS. His research interests include solid-state lasers especially the high energy and high power laser systems with wavelengths around 1 μm and 2 μm, nonlinear optics covering the coherent wavelengths from ultra-violet to mid-infrared, laser applications such as material processing, laser cleaning and gas detection, and the development of additive manufacturing systems on polymers, metals and composite materials.
He has authored more than 80 SCI paper and 40 patents (25 licensed) in fields of laser technologies and 3D printing. Meanwhile, he focuses on the transformation of scientific achievements. In field of 3D printing, series 3D printers varied from Stereo Lithography Appearance (SLA), Digital Light Processing (DLP), Continuous Interface Production (CLIP), and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) have been developed for industrialization. In field of lasers, more than twenty types of laser systems with wavelengths from 190 nm to 5 μm have been applied in several scientific departments concerning both industry and defense. He was awarded with the 2nd and the 1st Fujian provincial science and technology Prize in 2006 and 2007 respectively (No.1), the 2nd National Science-Technology Progress Prize of China (No.1, in 2011), and the 13th Yun sheng young science and technology award (No.1). As the main participant, he was also awarded with the 3rd National Science-Technology Progress Prize of China, the 1st Science-Technology Progress Prize of Fujian Province, and the 2nd Science-Technology Progress Prize of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
