Prof. Xiaolong Liu received his Ph.D. degree in Biological Physics from School of Life Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University (Shanxi, China) in 2008 following the joint doctoral experience majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Surgical Research Center of Brown University (Rhode Island, USA). From 2008 to 2010, he worked in the Surgical Research Center of Brown University and Biozentrum, University of Basel (Switzerland) as a Postdoc. From 2010 to 2013, he was appointed as a Research Associate (Staff Scientist) in Biozentrum, University of Basel; from 2013 to now, he was appointed as a full professor and the vice president of Mengchao Hepatobiliary Hospital of Fujian Medical University (Fujian, China). Since 2017, he has been appointed as part-time professor and PI at Xiamen Institute of Rare Earth Materials, Haixi Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research activities involve in developing novel strategies for early diagnosis and therapy of cancer, molecular imaging and imaging guided surgery, cancer immunotherapy and precision medicine based on nanotechnologies.

Introduction of Liu’s Group

Focusing on the clinical demands of precision cancer diagnosis and therapy, his research group emphasizes the using of synthetic biotechnology, biomedical strategy, nanotechnology and biomaterials to focus on the basic and translation studies of tumor molecular imaging and imaging guide surgery, tumor specific theranostic probes, tumor microenvironment imaging and manipulation, cancer immunotherapy (neoantigen based nano-vaccine and engineered immune cells). The group has published more than 80 papers in the world recognized journals including ACS Nano, Clinical Cancer Research, Theranostics, Journal of Controlled Release, Advanced Science, with more than 1000 citations in recent 3 years.
